ACP UNITE representative: expressions of interest
Margaret Smallbone is standing down from her role as one of two ACP co-representatives who sit on the Applied Psychology Organising Professional Committee within the Health Sector of UNITE. This Committee also comprises psychology representatives from the range of psychology disciplines around the UK– Clinical, Health, and Counselling. The OPC is assigned a Full-Time Officer from UNITE.
The Committee also has a key role in gathering together and responding to national trends in NHS terms and conditions, as well as workforce issues on behalf of psychologists and child psychotherapists. There is a wealth of experience and knowledge which ACP reps can contribute to and draw on for the benefit of ACP UNITE members.
The ACP reps are required to attend London/ Eastbourne based meetings of the Committee four times a year; to report on CPT issues to the OPC; to visit training schools to inform trainees about UNITE; and to give feedback on developments and events to the ACP Chair and Executive and membership. The ACP reps also need to be available to respond to issues for individual UNITE members via email and phone. They are not required to represent members locally but to liaise with local reps when needed. This is especially helpful when the local rep does not have knowledge about child psychotherapy/ CAMHS.
If you are an ACP and Unite member and you interested in applying for this role please contact Julia Mikardo or the ACP office by December 18th 2015
