NICE publishes updated guidance on depression in children and young people

Updated guidelines for depression in children and young people have been published this month by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE).

The guidance, Depression in children and young people: identification and management in primary, community and secondary care, includes recommendations which cover the care of all children and young people with depression, stepped care, detection, risk profiling and referral as well as transfer to adult services.

NICE says recommendations on psychological therapies and antidepressants have been added to and updated in sections 1.5 and 1.6. The addendum contains details of the methods and evidence used to update these recommendations.

Updated NICE Guidelines on Depression

Fantastic and uplifting to see both Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Individual Child Psychotherapy named as treatments for moderate to severe depression. New ACp website looking great too.
